48-Hour Filmmaking Competition
This year participants can choose between two different weekends to compete: September 17-19 or September 24-26. Originally scheduled for just the first weekend (September 17-19), a second weekend was added to accommodate filmmakers observing Yom Kippur (September 17-18). Filmmakers must choose one weekend or the other; teams and individuals are not permitted to participate in both (only one film per team/individual can be entered in the contest).
Regardless of the weekend chosen, all competitors will follow the exact same rules. This year, competitors will have 48 hours to script, shoot, score, and edit a 5-minute film (maximum). At the start of the contest, each competing team will randomly draw several elements that must appear in their films: a genre (Comedy, Horror, Drama, Mystery, or Musical); a mystery location within Wilmington city limits; a surprise element or prop; and a snippet of dialog. Mystery elements will be different each weekend.
